  4. Once you have the style that you want, use hot glue to secure the stems together and then let that dry.
  5. When dry wrap floral tap floral tape around the stem covering the glued area.
  6. Trim excess stem to about 1 and a half inches form the main flower. Make sure there’s enough space for the pin.

A boutonniere is worn on the left side because that’s where lapel buttonhole is. If the boutonniere is not being worn on a jacket but on a shirt or vest, it should still be worn on the left side.

How to pin a boutonniere

Pin a boutonniere in 3 easy steps. First you pin into the fabric. Then over the flower, then into the fabric again. Stretch out the fabric so that it lays flat.

The boutonniere is typically placed lower than the tie, but above the pocket square.⁣

Boutonniere Tip:

When looking at boutonniere, select the kind with magnetic clasps rather than pins. Pins often bend. Or don’t adequately hold the weight of the buds and the boutonniere ends up hanging upside down. Magnets make it much easier to put them on and can hold the weight a bit better than a pin.⁣
