Green Flags in a Relationship

And we know people who agree and that say these are the qualities that they look for. We think that no one should lower their standards for anyone, no matter how much you like them.

Please remember that there is a difference between standards and expectations. For example, you will not find superficial things like “must be a millionaire” or anything like that.

1. Clarity

Clarity is a major green flag and a great sign for new healthy relationships. There are no mixed messages or confusion about their intentions. They make it clear that he/she is interested in spending time with you. This means that they take the time to see you, plan in advance, and make you a priority in their schedule.

2. Respectful

They treat everyone with respect which means you, their mom, family, siblings, friends, other acquaintances, and people he/she doesn’t even know.

Respect means treating others with kindness, compassion empathy, being inclusive, attentive, unbiased, and any similar characteristics. This is good to know in the early stage of the relationship.

3. Emotional Intelligence

They’re emotionally intelligent and responds with maturity to thing like anger. That means they are capable of working through their emotions.

You know that in an argument, they will not degrade you, insult you, raise their voice, or intentionally try to hurt you. They know that being angry is not a justification for any of those things

4. Attentive

Attentiveness is a good sign if your partner is in it for the long haul. You won’t have to deal with someone who you constantly ask more of. You date someone who actively takes care of you, listens to you, pays attention, and is concerned about your needs.

5. Goal-Oriented

They are responsible, independent, and work hard. They show that they are motivated to succeed and passionate about what they are doing in life and with their time.

6. Makes You Feel Good

He/she makes you feel good about yourself. If you are going to be spending any time around anyone, it should be around someone who lifts you up and elevates your mood. They also help you feel safe and secure physically and emotionally.

They should give you compliments, reassure you, and encourages you. You should not spend time with someone or pursue someone who makes you feel less confident or make you doubt or question yourself. They should be your biggest cheerleader.

7. It Goes Both Ways

Make sure that you know this isn’t a one-way street. You must treat people how you want to be treated and you must also present these green flags to your partner as well.
