1. Start with Your Ceremony
Your wedding ceremony is usually one of the most traditional parts of your celebration. You can change this by switching up your timeline. Instead of going by the book, do something that showcases your personality as a couple. You can also ditch the traditional afternoon/evening leading into the night wedding timeline too.
2. Switch Up Your Reception
You don’t have to do the three-course dinner and then dancing if you don’t want to. You could schedule a wine tasting, have brunch, or even do laser tag! The more unconventional your wedding reception is, the more memorable it will be. It doesn’t even have to be on the same day!
3. Have A Surprise Wedding
This is a fun and spontaneous way to ditch the traditional wedding plan. Hire an officiant in secret and then come up with a reason for invites. You could say it’s your engagement party, for example. Once everyone is gathered, bring out your officiant and have your surprise wedding! Imagine the look on everyone’s face! A wedding like this would certainly be easier to plan.
4. Elope
The king of unconventional since time immemorial, elopements remain a way out for many couples. Head to Vegas, drop by the courthouse, or go all the way to Sweden. What matters is the love that you and your partner share.

Get a wedding website, go digital with your invites and Livestream your wedding. You’ll end up with a ceremony that is different from the regular.
8. Get A Great Wedding Dress
Your wedding dress is your moment to shine. It is also entirely up to you to decide what to wear. Do you think the regular white is boring? Wear something in your favorite color. We’ve seen beautiful wedding gowns of many other colors. Even black! You could also design a dress from scratch yourself.
9. Go Beyond Flowers
You can have a bridal bouquet made of succulents and greenery instead. They bring a more natural feel. You could also include lanterns, balloons, and miniature trees. When it comes to directions at your wedding, how about using neon signs instead of the regular old boards? They’ll certainly give your wedding a buzz.
10. Your Food and Drinks
Imagine having gourmet pizza at a wedding? That’s sure to turn a few heads. Comfort food is also a great way to opt-out of the regular three-course meal. When it comes to your drinks, how about setting up a self-serve station?
Your guests would love a chance to participate, and you can be sure everyone is taking what they want. Your wedding cake can also be more than the regular three or four-tiered wedding cake. We’ve seen towers of cupcakes, cakes from oatmeal, stacks of brownies, cookies.
Honestly, if you ask us, there is no right way to have a wedding. The most important thing to know is that it is your day, so you can do it your way.
